What Can I Make with Freeze Dried Spinach?

I remember thinking that spinach was the worst vegetable on the planet when I was a little girl.  It didn't much matter to me how it was prepared, it was gross.  We didn't have spinach very often in my house, but I do know that my mother knew it was good for me and told me that it would make me strong like "Popeye."  I might be showing my age here, but the truth is, spinach isn't just for Popeye anymore.  There are a million ways to enjoy the many health benefits of spinach and the best part is, you can't even taste it.

Spinach is one of the most mild-flavored greens you can eat.  Just wilting it into an omelet or soup can add tons of nutrients and almost no flavor.  Now that it is available in freeze-dried, spinach can be a valuable addition to your food storage, so I thought I would share a few of my favorite ways to use this valuable ingredient.

Let's start with breakfast.  "Green Smoothies" are at the top of the healthy living food list at the moment.  But just because they are trendy, doesn't mean they are just for hipsters.  A well-balanced smoothie can be both filling and nutritious and spinach can play a delicious part.  Here's a basic recipe for making a balanced smoothie:

I love soup in the fall.  For lunch or dinner, a good soup can warm your heart and your tummy.  Here's a spinach soup recipe even your kids will love.

Blend in to any ice cream recipe, and freeze-dried spinach becomes a welcome addition to your favorite flavors.  Because spinach has almost no flavor, you can add it to your favorite recipes without any consequence.  I like banana ice cream and peppermint the best, but choose your favorite.

Grind your spinach into a versatile powder to make pasta noodles and tortillas and all of your baked goods.

With so many ways to get your veggies in, you won't want to skip the spinach in your food storage inventory.
