Slime Creations!

In the 70’s when jell-o was all the rage, Mary Ann came across a recipe for "Blender Jello.”  It’s jello you make in the blender and it sets in 10 minutes!

The first time she made it, she used lime jello (her favorite).  Because blender jello has a smooth, slurp-able and fluffy texture, and because of the recently released movie Ghost Busters, my brothers decided to call it "Slime.” And so "Slime" became a Wilcox family favorite.

With Halloween coming up, I thought I would share the Slime recipe with you.  It is a very versatile recipe that can be used with any flavor of jello and with any jello recipe.  Here’s what you will need:

STEP 1:


Fill Measuring cup to the 1 cup line with water.  Microwave on high for 2 minutes or until boiling.
STEP 2:

Pour water into the blender and add the jello.  Cover and blend on a medium setting for 60 seconds (NO LESS!  Your jello will not set if you cut the time short)
STEP 3:

Add ice cubes 1 cup at a time until all the little chunks are blended.
STEP 4:

Pour mixture into desired container or mold. 
STEP 5:

Place in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.

That’s it! It takes 15 minutes to make and set.  Not bad, eh?

Slime is firm but as a light and airy texture so you can scoop it with an ice cream scoop or a cookie dough scoop to make perfect individual servings.

The Slime Brain:

I had a friend who used raspberry jello and put it in a Brain Mold for her son’s Halloween party at school last year. Just make sure you spray the mold with an unflavored, non-stick spray so it comes out easily.  It was a huge hit.

Fancy Slime:

Placing the Jello in individual goblets or stemware and topping them off with a dollup of Wip-it makes a very pretty addition to your Sunday dinner table.

Freezer Slime:

You can also freeze the slime to make a sherbet and is cold and refreshing or fun slime popcicles for your kids!
